Covid Angel Project
Dr. Charlotte Rhee, the mother of TJ and Isabella who founded the Gifted Hearts charity, has started a project giving “angels of hope” to front-line healthcare workers as a recognition of their work and an effort to help keep them safe. The keyrings are assembled at her office, packaged by her 85-year-old mother, and blessed by a chaplain before being distributed.
You can learn more about the Covid Angel Project, and get involved, at the website Covid Angel Project. You can also joined the Facebook group Covid Angel Project, and learn more at a News 12 Long Island post on Facebook, “Doctor from Northport starts COVID Angel Project to help lift coworkers’ spirits.”
The charity was founded by two children.
TJ and Isabella
Gifted Hearts, a 501c charity, provides medical care packs, school supplies, and essential living items to children locally and around the world.
The charity was founded in 2015 by two children. Brother and sister TJ and Isabella Manfuso, residing on Long Island, NY, have parents who are avid travelers. TJ and Isabella have been fortunate to have traveled with their parents to many countries.
Through their travels, they discovered that many children lack basic needs such as school supplies and medical care. From their experiences they were inspired to form the Gifted Hearts charity. To date they have provided supplies to Ecuador, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and the Philippines, as well as to their local community in Huntington, NY.

TUAEL, PHILIPPINES
Barangay Center
March 17, 2019
Tuael is a fertile growing area above the village of President Roxas in North Cotabato province. The Barangay Center kindly provided use of their gymnasium for the Gifted Hearts event, where the families of a local church received clothing and food items, and school supplies and toys. “Musical Chairs” and “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes” were played for entertainment, and the attending families provided a yummy lunch. One single mother with no family was especially grateful for the gift of rice.
CABANGBANGAN, PHILIPPINES
Barangay Center
March 16, 2019
Gifted Hearts hostess in the Philippines Rachel Stauffer, with helpers, presented children with pencils, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and face cloths in Gifted Hearts backpacks. Children also received sandals, toys and candy, and families were given rice, sardines, noodles and laundry bars. A meal of sandwiches and juice was served, and games were played.
This event was particularly emotional, as some of the native children in this rural area had never worn shoes or used toothbrushes, and others were wearing broken shoes. The area had recently been flooded, and surplus books from TJ and Isabella were donated to the school.
